Rajendra Kumar Khanna (ME/68)
RK Khanna has been involved in starting and building the IIT KGP community in the Silicon Valley for more than 25 years. Along with fellow KGpians he started with Annual picnics with 20-30 alumni in 1990 and were attracting 300-400 participants by 2000! He was the first President of the Silicon Valley IIT KGP chapter, during his tenure of approximately five years, he increased alumni participation, built a self sustaining organization, raised funds for IIT KGP, actively participated in Pan IIT events and organized annual cultural, networking and mentoring events. After transitioning his role to Roy DaSilva, he has continued to involved in the Bay Area KGP activities. He have hosted several alumni dinners for Prof. Sanyal, Prof. Chopra, Prof. Ghosh, Prof. Dube and Prof. Faruqui during their visits to the Silicon Valley. He was a member of the IIT Foundation Board during 2000-2002, during this time, he raised funds from the KGP alumni to provide internet access to all the student rooms in the campus.
Mr. Khanna did B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering in 1968 and MBA from the University of Rochester. In the early part of his career, he worked for Xerox Corporation for approximately 18 years in Rochester, NY and Los Angeles in Finance and Division Controllership roles. Next, he worked for Sun Microsystems for about 14 years in the Silicon Valley as International Sales Controller, Vice-President of Finance for Services Business, etc. Finally, he was the Vice-President of Corporate Audit for Qualcomm in San Diego for about 8 years. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Extreme Networks in San Jose, CA, a software driven Networking company.
