Three students from the Electrical Engineering Dept. of IIT KGP have been conferred with POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA)-2016 by POSOCO, subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation. Ishita Biswas has been awarded under the Master category for her research work on "System Configuration and Control of DC Microgrid with Variable Generation and Storage." Ganeswara Rao Jada is awarded under the Doctoral category for his research work on "Improved Distance Relay Performance during Power Swing Using Innovative Algorithms." Arghya Mitra awarded under the Doctoral category for his research work on "Impacts of Integration of Doubly Fed Induction Generator Based Wind Farms on the Transient Stability of Power Systems." The award ceremony was organized by Power System Operation Corporation Ltd. (POSOCO) in association with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi.

This is third recognition of the Dept. of Electrical Engineering (EE) at IIT KGP in the recent time. Last week Prof. Amit Patra from the Dept was cited among the top researchers in the country, in a report published by Dept of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology. Earlier this year the EE department of IIT KGP also featured among the top 100 list of QS Subject Ranking. The department is instrumental in delivering pathbreaking R&D in the field of VLSI, which was set up by the alumni of the Institute.

The EE department is among the best performing departments in the Institute with regards to placement and research. It is a preferred discipline for students with good JEE Advanced ranking as well.? ?
