The 15th Annual Alumni Meet which took place from 12th to 14th January 2018 saw overwhelming participation from students and Alumni alike. The fifteenth edition of the flagship event of Students' Alumni Cell, IIT Kharagpur reached the zenith of grandeur with a record number of registrations from the Alumni and active participation from the Students in each of the events. The event kick-started with the formal Registration and then the alumni went on to the Campus Tour. Witnessing the drastic change their Alma mater has gone through during all these years felt very special. The Nehru Museum and the newly constructed majestic Nalanda Classroom Project were the highlights of the Campus Tour. Right after the Campus Tour, all the Alumni were dropped at their respective departments. The same place where the journey as an engineer had started years ago. The Department Visit was hosted well by the Heads of respective Departments including a lucrative presentation along with a tour of the department.
The Musical Night was an awe-inspiring event that not only saw amazing performances by ETMS, WTMS, and TDS but also an electrifying show by ‘Still Waters’, a band of the 1993 Alumni.
“Nostalgia, Fraternity and Memories relived in the Annual Alumni Meet. Will go back with wonderful memories”
The second day started with the Institute Function. All the Distinguished Service Awardees were recognized on stage by the Dean of Alumni Affairs and the Director of the institute. But the brightest highlights of the Institute Function were the group photographs of the different batches. It was not only a nostalgic moment for all the alumni but also a wonderful sight for the existing students. Their bonding was unparalleled and unshakable. The most awaited event of the meet, Entertainia saw the heart winning and mind-boggling performances of Suhani Shah and Rahul Subramanian with the Open Air Theatre packed with a live audience of over 4000 alumni and students.
The last day of the meet started early with the 2.2 Marathon which saw an overwhelming participation of both the enthusiastic alumni and the students.
“Homely Feelings after 50 years. KGP continues to be young and vibrant. Proud to be a part of growth.”
It was time to bid adieu at the closing ceremony with heavy hearts and a bucket full of unforgettable memories. It started with giving away of some formal and informal prizes followed by alumni sharing their heartfelt experiences of the 3 days during the meet and was concluded by a heart-warming speech given by the General Secretary of Students’ Alumni Cell, Mr. Vishal Singh.
“After a quarter century visiting home a wonderful experience and meeting with buddies were really rocking. Fir milenge ye vaada raha”
