Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur recognizes the professional achievements and contribution of its alumni through the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) each year on the Annual Convocation Day.
You are requested to help us identify the Distinguished Alumnus for this year by nominating those, who in your opinion should be considered for these Awards. Kindly get the nomination form filled up and submitted to the Office of the undersigned latest by 31st March 2018, Saturday A soft copy of the nomination form should also be submitted by email to email@example.com. It may not be possible to consider nominations received after this date for the current year. However, those will be considered for the next year.
Nominations in prescribed format may be submitted by past Distinguished Alumnus Awardees, Senate Members, Life Fellows, Alumni Foundations / Associations through their Presidents. Nominations must reach the Dean of Alumni Affairs & International Relations latest by 31st March 2018, Saturday. Nominations received can be carried forward for 2 years with provisions for update by the concerned alumnus/alumna.
Self Nomination will not be entertained.
Any person who has received a degree from the Institute is eligible to be considered for Distinguished Alumnus Award, except in the following cases:
A. An alumnus/alumna, who is an employee of IIT Kharagpur, shall not be eligible for the award during his/her service period except when he/she has accomplished with truly outstanding of highest order recognised widely.
B. Alumni who have been awarded D.Sc (Honoris Causa) and or Life Fellow Award of the Institute will also be considered as Distinguished Alumnus Awardees of the Institute.
An individual, to be nominated for this Distinguished Alumnus Award, should have made a significant professional contribution which is recognised widely. The following, among possible other criteria, shall be considered while assessing the nominations:
• Positions Held
• Contributions to his/her profession
• Awards and Honours Received
• Other contributions
Process for Selection
Nominations shall be shortlisted by a Screening Committee (SC) chaired by the Dean (AA&IR) to be constituted with the approval of the Director. Shortlisted nominations shall be peer reviewed. The SC will make a panel of such reviewers for the purpose. Based on the recommendations of the peer reviewers, the SC will make a panel for consideration of the Standing Committee. The Standing Committee will normally comprise Director as the Chairman, Deputy Director, Dean (AA&IR), Dean (F) as members and 2 (two) External Experts, following the guidelines of selection in such cases and considering all eligible nominations and their recommendations of the peer reviewers as well as recommendation of the Screening Committee and make final recommendations to the Senate and the Board of Governors for approval.
